Congratulations Kaila Hunt

Mat-Su Sertoma Club is pleased to announce they have awarded a scholarship to Kaila Hunt to travel overseas on an exchange program to assist in developing her career in the health industry.  This is the second year Sertoma has provided funds for international learning to Alaskans.

Jim Vrooman was a Mat Su Sertoma Club member who exemplified volunteerism and grace.  In addition to authoring “The Times of My Life” he also served on the Wasilla Area Senior Center board of directors.  In honor of his example and leadership within the community, the Mat Su Sertoma Club wanted him to be remembered in perpetuity through this annual grant.

Kaila currently works at Algone Pain Clinic as a Medical Assistant. Her wish is to obtain her Registered Nurse degree and work with rural communities.  Her adopted brother was diagnosed with a hearing loss which sparked her interest in the deaf and hard of hearing community.  She has learned and is maintaining her American Sign Language skills.

She will be using the funds to travel to Africia.  Kaila’s grandmother volunteered as an R.N. in Africa many years ago and it’s her dream to walk in her grandmother’s footsteps.  She has volunteered at countless programs in Alaska, including the Veterans Administration.

Thank You!

Words of thanks are not enough for our Ice Hole Experts! Without the continuing dedication and hours of love from our Official Ice Hole Cutter Gage Tree & Lighting Service, and Red Carpet Wizards Forbess Flooring, we would have no Plunge!
