The Mat Su Sertoma Club is excited to announce Malia Batchelder as the successful recipient of the 2019 summer camp scholarship. Malia is 14 years old and is currently attending Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP). She was accepted into the Junior National Honor Society and is the only deaf student to have attended ANSEP so far.
Malia was diagnosed with Usher syndrome, however, this hasn’t restricted her from challenging herself on every level. Intelligent, articulate and curious, Mailia is a young woman with ambition. She has worked to become an excellent student and community member and deserves this recognition!
