Our past summer camp scholarship recipient, Malia Batchelder was all set to attend Gallaudet University’s Summer Youth Camp when Covid hit, and the Summer Camp program cancelled for the safety of its students and staff.
Gallaudet University is the only university where all programs and services are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. Malia is now a freshman at the University of Alaska, and we’re so proud of her achievements.
Malia was diagnosed with Usher syndrome, however, this hasn’t restricted her from challenging herself on every level. Intelligent, articulate and curious, Mailia is a young woman with ambition. She has worked to become an excellent student and community member and deserves this recognition!
